The Easy Hollower
The Revolutionary New Way To Turn Hollow Forms

Simply rotate then replace the Carbide Cutter as needed, so there's no
sharpening, ever!
True Curve Neck - designed for easy access to the most challenging
hollow form shapes up to 127 mm (5") in diameter.
SuperWide Tool Bar - unmatched stability and perfect cutter presentation for both novices and pros.
Woodturners know that shaping hollow forms can be challenging. The smart new
Easy Hollower from Easy Wood Tools takes the hassle right out of hollowing.
The Easy Hollower is fitted with an ingeniously effective replaceable
Carbide Cutter. When one super-sharp edge dulls, just rotate to another.
When the entire cutter dulls eventually, simply slip in a new one. Yes, that's
right, that means no sharpening, ever. You'll also appreciate that the
geometries of the patent pending Carbide Cutters let you cut both towards and
away from the center.
One secret of the revolutionary new Easy Hollower is the True Curve
Neck, designed to access the most difficult hollow form shapes up to 5" (127
mm) in diameter, quickly and easily. Machine cut from solid 1/2" stainless
steel, (not simply bent from a round rod shape), with outstanding design
dynamics it's engineered to deliver superior performance, piece after piece. The
SuperWide Tool Bar is engineered for unmatched stability, providing support in
line with the cutting edge that counteracts and eliminates rotational forces.
It's designed to perfectly present the cutter for all cuts. Just keep it flat on
the tool rest and level with the floor. You'll really like this when you're
"working blind" inside a hollow form.
The Easy Grip Handle offers several grip locations so your hands stay
comfortable.
Tips and Hints
Producing High Quality Final Cuts:
Technology has just not yet allowed for a cutting edge that will stay sharp
enough after removing the excess bulk of material for an entire project and
still be able to perform those most delicate final cuts. EWT customers find that
they can produce high quality final cuts with EWT tools by following these
methods:
- Make a practice of having one spare dedicated cutter for making only final
cuts. This cutter will stay sharp for a very long time with this light use.
- Significantly reduce the rate at which you move the tool along the cut to
give the tool more time to cut as cleanly as possible. The slower the travel,
the cleaner the final cut.
To ensure easy removal of your cutter retaining screw, we recommend
- Do not over tighten screw. Just grip the short end of the hex
wrench to lightly hand tighten the screw. This will provide adequate force to
secure your cutter. Rest assured the design of the tool system will hold the
cutter securely with minimal hex wrench torque.
- Lightly grease your cutter screw threads each time you replace your
cutter. Maybe even more often when turning green (wet) wood.
- Thoroughly clean out the hex socket of the screw before inserting
hex wrench. This allows the wrench to make full contact with the screw and
will prevent you from stripping out the hex socket.
For Your Safety:
If you do not understand ALL of these precautions, please do not use this
tool.
- Read and understand your lathe’s owners manual.
- Watch the videos at our website,
www.easywoodtools.com, until you understand the cutting concepts involved.
- Set tool rest height to align top of cutter with spindle center.
- Keep tool flat on the tool rest and level (parallel) to the floor for all
cuts.
- Don’t force the tool to cut, give it time.
- Use the right tool for the job.
- Secure work piece properly.
- Keep work area clean.
- Keep children away from dangerous equipment.
- Wear safe and protective clothing.
- Wear safety glasses and/or face shield.
- Keep tools sharp.
- Use Dust Mask when necessary.
- Don’t mix drugs and machinery.
- Pay attention.
- Slow tool travel speed down for last cuts to obtain smoothest cut.
California Proposition 65 Warning
Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to any product(s) sold in
California.
Some products sold by Easy Wood Tools contain chemicals known to the state of
California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. A
Proposition 65 warning means one of two things: (1) the business has evaluated
the exposure and has concluded that it exceeds the “no significant risk level”;
or (2) the business has chosen to provide a warning simply based on its
knowledge about the presence of a listed chemical without attempting to evaluate
the exposure.
Easy Wood Tools, LLC has chosen to provide a warning based on its knowledge
about the presence of one or more listed chemicals without attempting to
evaluate the level of exposure. With products on EWT’s website, the exposure may
be below the Proposition 65 level of concern, or could even be zero. However,
out of an abundance of caution, Easy Wood Tools, LLC has elected to place the
Proposition 65 warning notification on all its products.
This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause
cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other
construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to
cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of
these chemicals are:
- lead from lead-based paints,
- crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and
- arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.
Your risk from exposure to these chemicals varies, depending on how often you
do this type of work. To reduce your exposure, work in a well-ventilated area
and with approved safety equipment, such as dust masks that are specially
designed to filter out microscopic particles.
