Sculpting Blade
Hello Fellow Woodworkers! A number of Woodworks fans have written to me asking questions about the type of sculpting blade that I used to carve the oak bar stool, sitting bench, and bubinga chair. Although I had been satisfied with the blade that I was using, I was concerned about recommending it due to safety issues because I found that it could be grabby and pull to the side.
This past summer I discovered a blade that I am quite happy with in terms of performance and especially in regards to safety. I felt so good about my test results in using this blade that I decided to become a distributor and I am now offering it for sale on my website. This is a German made blade and it has passed rigorous safety tests in Germany.
This blade is made of plasma nitride, carbonized steel hardened to 62 Rockwell. I have used the optional grinding sticks that are also available with it and have found it straightforward to sharpen. This blade cuts well in all directions and is ideal for woodworkers, sculptors, boat builders, furniture makers, etc. The blade will cut through wood, plastic, and chipboard as well as a variety of other materials, except for stone.
