David’s Appearance at The Woodworking Shows

David will be appearing at seven of The Woodworking Shows in the United States for 2004 – 2005. He will be presenting two three- hour seminars at each show and will also participate in the show’s Ask the Expert’s booth.

SEMINAR TOPICS:

Creative Effects With Wood, An Experts Touch - three hour seminar

In this three hour seminar David will demonstrate three techniques that will enhance your work and make it stand apart. His demonstration will include ways to apply genuine 22 karat gold leaf, the techniques of using inlay as a fine art, and how to cut tight fitting marquetry using the double bevel technique.

Design & Construction Essentials For Fine Cabinetmaking - three hour seminar

David will teach some of the most important principles of design that he uses to create his award winning furniture. He will go into detail on subjects such as proportions, decorative features, surface textures, use of color, and order of construction details.

ASK THE EXPERTS TOPICS:

Creative Ways to Bend Wood

David will demonstrate alternative wood bending techniques, such as how to make a compound bentwood lamination. He will also demonstrate an unusual technique for making a full circle lamination called a continuous strip lamination.

Imaginative Inlay Techniques

David will discuss how to inlay exotic woods and precious metals to enhance a piece and take it to the next level.

Gilding and Patination

David will display samples of his award winning finishes, including genuine 23 karat gold leaf, silver, copper, and dutch metal leaf. He will discuss how to create patinas using mild acids to create colors and patterns on oxidizable metals.
